Of all the most wonderful things in the world, perhaps the greatest and most worthy of noting is happiness.
Monday the 14th of March:
My name is Alonn Bellmoc, and I am keeping a record of my life from this point on. You see, on my 19th birthday my parents gave me this journal and told me that someday I may want to reflect on what I had experienced in greater detail than memory alone. This idea seems a little silly but I have decided to humor them until they forgot about the whole thing. What moved me to even start this entry was a particularly unique event which occurred just three days previous. Almost everyone knows that feeling of meeting someone and instantly wanting to know more about them. Perhaps it is a person with different characteristics than your own or maybe someone with whom you share a lot of interests. But when you meet them and you can't stop talking, you know they will impact your life in a more profound way than others.
His name is Brent...Smi...Smith, maybe. Not sure. It is funny how the names of important people seem to slip our minds. Anyway, I met him when I was out running an errand for my mother in the detergent aisle of the grocery store. I have this problem with my eyes drying out when I go to public places, especially when I am around chemicals. When I started down the aisle I was just mumbling to myself about my dry eyes, as I often do in stores, when this voice behind me startled me.
"You should see aisle three, that is where they keep the eye drops."
I jumped a little and he apologized and introduced himself. Sadly, I can't remember his last name... Of course I introduced myself and felt awkward for jumping and talking to myself. The strange part was that he didn't seem to think I was weird at all. He just said something about how the chemicals bothered his nose so he sort of knew where I was coming from. From there our small talk turned into deeper conversations and then into what we thought about the world and just really anything. It was different, but somehow I felt that we had met each other before. Not like a past life or anything just in a more casual situation. Perhaps not in a grocery store.
After walking around the store discussing whatever we stumbled upon I noticed that an hour had passed. My mother had expected this little excursion of mine to take only twenty minutes, not an hour and twenty minutes. He looked at me and said that it was fantastic to have met me and to have talked but he had to be on his way. I agreed with him and we said our goodbyes. I don't know what it was about him but it felt like I was just catching up with an old friend, as if we had left off at our last encounter and picked right back up.
That was my motivation for starting this thing anyway. If anything is worth noting it is meeting new friends and influential people. Until next time, have fun and goodnight. I am exhausted! I will type to you later!
*Note: This is completely fictitious but has influences from my real life. I am obviously not Alonn Bellmoc, I am Chris Campbell. I decided to come out with a journal-like post every few posts to keep myself from sounding dry and becoming boring. I love to creative write and this helps to get some of my creativity out. Being in college ends up taking away from your free time a lot! Anyway, that is my little note. Enjoy the story! :)
So...What's with this thing called life?!

What is Love Anyway?
love
[luhv]noun, verb, loved, lov·ing.–noun
1.
a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
4.

What does love look like and how does it act? I have already highlighted two variances of behavior but that hardly covers the nearly infinite possibilities. It would be inconceivable to attempt to outline them all and silly to outline a few. Where would this get us? About as far as it has thus far, not very...So, what is love?

Until…
The vast division between us all,
Slowly fades away with each passing day,
The tides of change are quickly rising,
And when they leave, unity will be left,
A bond which was always there,
Will be reinforced and made stronger,
No gale nor fire,
Earthquake or monsoon,
Could so much as shake the foundation,
Let alone topple it’s structure,
The world will become whole again,
And all the evils will turn to dust,
A perfect harmony shall exist among us,
Until…
See how easy it is to paint the picture of love with words that do not even use it. I just defined love with words like "fades" and "monsoon", neither of which have anything to do with love in the first place. How can this be? People are visual and emotions spring forth from these images creating lasting impressions. Very seldom does talking about a past feeling bring it up, but the moment one looks at a picture the emotions come flooding back.
Love is a very complex phenomena that must be experienced to be understood. No matter how many examples I give or how many poems I write the true emotion of love will not come through. Love is amazing and can create the most extreme of feelings, both gleeful and pained. But perhaps the biggest mystery is how love can be so many different things to so many different people but still only have one word to describe it.
a person toward whom love is felt; beloved person; sweetheart.
(I decided to stop when the definition became circular...)
Love has no clear cut definition. That is the plain and simple truth. It is best described using examples such as, love is like watching the sun rise. That is certainly not the best example but the message is clear: we don't really know how to define it. If we did then life would be so much easier. People wouldn't have to go around wondering if their version of love was the same as another persons. Love would just be.
Take for example a situation between a couple in love. On the one hand one person fauns over the other and expresses how they feel through physical contact. On the other hand their partner chooses to leave notes of deep admiration and tends to not talk about how they feel on a regular basis. An onlooker may see the couple out and about, one hugging and kissing the other like crazy while the other simply stands nearby, modestly accepting the affection. To this onlooker something may seem off about what is happening between them, but to the couple it is just a night out. The onlooker's version of love might not have included the standoff-ish behavior of the one partner. Or perhaps the display of affection threw the onlooker off. It depends on the person, and that is where confusion surfaces.

Dear Westboro...May God's Mercy be GREAT!
For all those who have a heart and operate according to logical thought, Westboro Baptist Church is a source of extreme hatred and negativity. Its members are radicals with a warped interpretation of the Bible as a whole. Never has one group been so disrespectful of another person's thought, feelings, and actions. Well, I suppose if you line up the KKK and the Westboro Baptist Church you would have a lot of overlaps...just a thought. Back to the issue at hand; the largest problem that people face when dealing with this group is their protesting of certain people's funerals but they certainly picket more than those events. Among the protested funerals are gay figure heads/supporters, war veterans, and celebrities. The last isn't necessarily due to a hate of that celebrity but to gain media attention. Westboro is a small organization with a big agenda: stamp out homosexuality and protesting everything under the sun.
Other than infuriating nearly every person in the United States, the Westboro Baptist Church exercises a fundamental right that all citizens of this country have: the right to freedom of speech. Fox journalist, Rabbi Brad Hirschfield, covered the Supreme Court case that was under review just recently. On March 2nd he wrote: "Today’s 8-1 Supreme Court ruling defends free speech, not Westboro Baptist Church, its ideology or even its right to continue protesting at the funerals of fallen military personnel." This opinion article sheds some light on the way our nation operates and would like to continue to operate in the future. Even though Westboro Baptist Church's views are seldom shared by others the churches members MUST be allowed to contiue their picketing. Had this case gone the other way it would have set a precedent for future cases concerning freedom of speech. It is akin to the “All or nothing” phrase. Either we have the right to say as we will or we don't. Banning certain groups from exercising this right now will later bring down the intended concept of freedom of speech down the road.

My Opinions of the Above Title!!!
So, most of the mentally sane can come to a general consensus that life is good, otherwise...why would we be trying so hard at it...agreed? Anyways, this group of mentally aware people can also agree that life can be...not so good, yes? Having come to these two opposing conclusions brings not only myself to a contradiction but also any poor reader who happens to stumble upon this post/blog. With these two standpoints I would like to bring to light the fact that as humans, we aren't satisfied with having only one-half of the "life-pie". The good tasting half is yummy some days, and other days we seem to sit around eating the foul tasting pie while complaining about it the whole time. When it is put this way it certainly sounds like we choose what half of the pie to eat each day.
Not true!!! If you parallel life to the kind of pie you might have been served in a cafeteria, such as in a high school, then you can recall how vastly different the quality of that particular dessert tasted each and every time. If people could have the good pie all the time then no one would partake of the..."not so good pie". But! Seeing that, for some odd reason, people insist on making bad pie it can only mean that it has to be gotten rid of somehow. And that is were the "not so good" part of life comes from: Bad pie, and the bad pie makers. Now that we have another element in this parallel to life I should explain.
These "bad pie makers" aren't bakers but rather every person that another person comes into contact with during life. Overall the best pie makers that make life better are indeed ourselves. Case in point, the next time you see yourself in the mirror congratulate yourself on a pie well done, you fantastic baker you! Expanding on this image one can easily decipher that family and friends are "good pie makers" as well. The bitter sweet combination of this "life-pie" is meant to leave the individual craving to make life even better. Every piece of this "life-pie", good or bad, finds the mouth of another. The more "bad" pie made means the more bad life experiences that person has to go through, and the opposite is true for the "good" pieces.
Everyone contributes to life and the experiences taken from it. If we all strive to be good bakers then there will be less circulation of this "bad pie". However, it should be noted that if there were no "bad pie" in life there could be no good either. To know that you have had a good experience one must have had a bad experience to compare with. That is why we can't seem to get enough of this bitter-sweet pie/life relationship.
